Abstract

The digital transformation of public housing assistance programs has introduced complex system integration challenges that significantly impact service delivery timelines. This article presents a case study of the San Diego Housing Commission's Rental Assistance Waitlist Portal, focusing on the optimization of data integration between Salesforce and Yardi systems through Dell Boomi ETL tool. The article addresses a critical bottleneck in waitlist processing where the traditional approach of integrating both generated and selected waitlist records led to extended processing times. The article proposes and implements a refined integration strategy that selectively transmits only actionable waitlist records, thereby streamlining the data flow between systems. The implementation results demonstrate substantial improvements in processing efficiency and significant reduction in applicant wait times. This optimization not only enhances system performance but also delivers tangible social impact by accelerating access to housing assistance. The article contributes to the growing body of knowledge on enterprise system integration in public sector services and offers valuable insights for similar organizations facing data processing challenges in social service delivery.
