Abstract

This article examines the competitive dynamics between Tesla's Supercharging network and other electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) manufacturers in the global market. The article analyzes the challenges faced by competing manufacturers in establishing and maintaining reliable charging networks while meeting evolving regulatory requirements. Tesla's early market entry and vertical integration approach have created significant barriers for competitors, particularly in Western markets, though alternative models have emerged in regions like China. The article explores critical factors including reliability issues, business sustainability challenges, and infrastructure development requirements. Special attention is given to upcoming regulatory changes in California and their implications for the broader EVSE industry. The article also evaluates strategies for effective competition, including network reliability enhancement, strategic deployment approaches, and user experience optimization. Finally, the article presents future outlook scenarios considering technological advancement, standardization trends, and evolving business models in the EVSE sector.
