Abstract

SAP S/4HANA Central Payment is a strategic component of the SAP Central Finance architecture, designed to centralize and streamline payment execution across heterogeneous ERP landscapes. This paper presents an in-depth overview of Central Payment, emphasizing its architecture, functional prerequisites, and the operational transformation it introduces. Key implementation requirements such as SLT-based data replication, master data harmonization, business function activation, and payment processing protocols are outlined. The paper also highlights the numerous organizational benefits including enhanced liquidity management, reduced operational complexity, improved compliance, and cost savings. In parallel, the limitations and challenges—such as irreversibility of activation and dependency on S/4HANA infrastructure—are discussed to provide a balanced perspective. Ultimately, this research aims to guide enterprises in evaluating the feasibility and strategic alignment of SAP Central Payment in achieving a unified and efficient financial processing model.
